Where do you buy poppy seeds or flowers?

There are many species plants called poppy, one of which is used to make opium (not cocaine). Small red poppy seeds and California poppy seeds are easy to come by from most seed catalogs, and they are easy to grow. In this country it is hard to find seeds for the large opium style poppies (Papaver somniferum), though they are widely grown in Europe. There are also perennial poppies in many colors -- the plants flower every year.

Since poppy seeds are used to make Cocaine, I do not believe you can actually purchase flowers. I have seen poppy seeds for sale in grocery stores or farm supply places. I even have had them mailed to me. Which is probably not legal.

Reply:garden center, home depot or lowes if you have one, or any road side stand or farm. it will be a few weeks till poppy plants are availble for sale , but once its season - they will be for sale everywhere.

Reply:you can try scraping them off a bagel. I keep trying but no growth.Ive been told the cream cheese could be causing mold in the soil!!
