What kind of flowers should I buy her?

I've never really bought flowers before (only your standard red roses to a couple non-serious girlfriends) but now I need to do some for real.....

I just moved to a new city and needed to have an eye exam. I randomly made an appointment and went in. My eye doctor was a knockout to say the least. The most beutiful smile I've ever seen. Apparently I had some kind of infection in my eye and over the course of the past 6 weeks I went in for more than a dozen "check ups" to treat my eye infection as well as get new contacts and glasses. I think the whole eye infection thing was just an excuse to get me to keep coming back in. I think she likes me as well. So I want to send her some flowers thanking her for taking such good care of me and my eyes and doing it all practically for free. So before I ask her out I wanted to send some flowers to her office.

ADVICE PLEASE!!!!

What kind of flowers should I buy her?
Any unexpected flowers will make a girls heart melt. ;-) As long as she's not allergic to them.

Sounds like you have know way of knowing.

Go for something that looks different, so that when people walk into her office they'll ask who got her those! She'll be talking about you all day!
Reply:Stargazer lilies or gerber daisies. Those are my personal favorites.

How do you keep shop bought flowers alive for longer?

I received 3 beautiful bouquets of flowers on Mother's Day, and would like to know how to extend their lives. Some came with little sachets, which I have used. And I have followed the cutting instructions for the stems, too.

My young son thinks our living-room is a florist's. : )

How do you keep shop bought flowers alive for longer?
Put them in lemonade instead of water... sounds weird but it does work. My gran used to do it and so does my mum.
Reply:pop a copper penny in the vase - if they are tulips or gerberas pin prick the head of the stem to allow thetrapped air to escape... trim the stems at an angle at the point of the knobbly bits,
Reply:try putting an aspirin in with the water x
Reply:Put sugar in the water
Reply:Ive always used a spoonfull of suger and my flowers have always been ok.
Reply:Place the flowers in half water/half 7-Up.Refresh every 2nd day.
Reply:Ive used sugar or corn syrup to keep them alive longer.
Reply:My mu often puts lemonade in with the water a little water and most lemonade. it really works! my dad does it too!
Reply:put sugar in the water.
Reply:I once heard that putting them in lemonade will keep them fresh for longer
Reply:Two things I've tried that work. Drop a copper coin in the bottom of the vase [penny] . Add single aspirin tablet to the water
Reply:Apparently if you put them in flat lemonade they should last longer , don't know if it works but thats what someone once told me
Reply:put a little (and i do mean only a drop) bleach in the water as this kills the bacteria that speed up the wilting, but not the flowers. Also cut the bottom of the stems diagonally so they can suck up more liquid.
Reply:Trim again, then put an aspirin in the water. I know this is for roses.

Should I buy flowers for my prom date or her mother?

Obviously, I'll buy a corsage for my date...but would it be a good idea to buy a boquet for her or her mother, as I will be picking her up from her house?

Should I buy flowers for my prom date or her mother?
both, or flowers for one and chocs for the other, usually flowers for your date as te chocs will be shared regardless lol
Reply:Corsage for your date, and a bouquet of something simple and graceful, like tulips, for her mother.

What camera to buy if you are an amateur and going to take pics of nature (flowers, landscape, etc)?

Hi, everyone!

I am looking for a good camera suitable for taking pics of nature.

Qualities I am looking for:

-high resolution when zooming in

-digital and/or a view finder

-a stabilizer would be great, but not necessary

I am an amateur, so I don't plan on taking something super extraordinary, so no super high resolution is required. I also don't plan on spending too much, 100 pounds is at it's maximum.

Thank you, everyone!

What camera to buy if you are an amateur and going to take pics of nature (flowers, landscape, etc)?
Hi!

Go to http://www.MyProductAdvisor.com. There's no advertising, they ask easy and optional questions, and you get recommendations on the best camera that fits your needs. I think the site is great -- it provides you with a good overview of "your" cameras and also enables you to compare several cameras. Good luck!
Reply:I would recommend Canon A720 IS

- 8 megapixels

- 6x zoom

- image stabilization

- macro mode (for taking close up)

Any websites where I can buy cheap silk flowers in bulk?

Making my own flowers for my wedding wanting silk ones. The ones I have found seem to be so expensive though.

Any websites where I can buy cheap silk flowers in bulk?
We used these for my sister, they are nice looking ones, a real bargain if you don't mind wiring and taping the heads yourself.

http://www.usifloral.com/index.asp?PageA...

Easy to do, here's how:

http://www.visionsofsilk.com/How%20to%20...

We used those for "main" flower and a few other variety and color flowers for contrast....Cake topper, bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, decorated centerpieces, etc, all totalled less than $40.
Reply:you can get them on ebay. just make sure they say look as good and real and check the feedback to see what others say. you can get latex ones aswell which would look even more real
Reply:Kingston market in Jamaica
Reply:The reason they are so expensive is because they don't expire. You would do better buying fresh flowers. I don't recommend bride's doing their own florals without knowing how though. You could ruin all the flowers you buy if you don't know how to process and care for them correctly. It isn't as easy as it looks ;) Have you tried going to a florist in your area and letting them know your budget?

What are the best flowers to buy for someone who lost a loved one to cancer?

A friend of mine lost her Father to cancer and I want to send her and her mom some flowers and a card but I wanted to find out what flower would be good for something like this.

What are the best flowers to buy for someone who lost a loved one to cancer?
First of all, I'm sorry to hear about your friend.

To answer your question, different cultures have different meanings for different types of flowers, so you might want to be careful, if your friend is traditional and looks very closely into flower meanings.

+ Forget-Me-Nots are beautiful flowers, which stand for 'good memories'.

+ White Hyacinths mean 'prayer', and purple stands for 'sorrow'.

+ White Chrysanthemums and Lillies traditionally stand for 'death' and 'loss'.

+ Iris usually mean 'have faith/hope' and 'friendship'.

+ Marigolds stand for 'grief'

+ White poppies 'consolation'

+ Tea roses for 'remembrance'

+ White roses for 'memories' and 'truth'

+ Sweet Pea stands for 'good-byes'

+ Zinnias to 'remember a lost friend'

You can also ask your local florist for ideas on flower arrangements-- I'm no expert, but I hope that helps!
Reply:there is no flower for each event you can chose any flower but you dont even have to send flowers my teachers wife died of cancer and i just got him a card and he appriciated it very much
Reply:I think that it doesn't matter what type of flower. Just a lovely boquet of your choosing and a card should be sufficient. If there is a type of flower that is particularly meaningful to this family, you could send a boquet of those. It's very thoughtful of you to want to reach out to the family during this horrible time. Your friend is really going to need all of your support right now.
Reply:i believe that ur friend will treasure whatever type of flowers u send. its the thought that counts. she will also feel glad that at least you are a true friend who will stick by her when the going is bad for her
Reply:White lilies show sympathy and are beautiful! Calla lilies are very nice!

I decided to buy my girlfriend flowers and ask for her heart back...?

I broke up with her last night and decided it was a huge mistake and i need her in my life i bought some flowers for her and am going to stop by her house tonight to give them to her.. whats the best way to tell her i want to be with her...? some thing sweet that she just cant possibly turn down...

I decided to buy my girlfriend flowers and ask for her heart back...?
Stop trying to tell are and start showing her. That will make the difference.
Reply:How about "I'm sorry, I made a mistake."? That would be a good place to start.
Reply:tell her can;t live with out her being in your life. and that you want her to be by your side.
Reply:say:baby i can't be without you please take me back.if a guy said that to me i would take him back in a heartbeat.
Reply:Tell her you're sorry, but dont beg.As for the flowers, she'll smell that bribe a million miles away.Still if she likes you, she'll accept.Just be honest, thats the best anybody can do
Reply:honestly you dont need to say the sweetest thing to your gurl that she cant possibly turn down, I need not to tel you sweetest thing or saying,

just speak from your heart, speak from the truth, speak out your emotions and feelings for her, coz that would be the most sweetest thing a guy could ever said,

just speak from the bottom of your heart, tel her everything you wanna tel her that comes from your heart...

Flowers not made in a bouquet?

So I seem to be having a major dumb moment... I got the idea of making a birthday cake out of wet floral foam and fresh flowers.... only thing is now I can't figure out where to go to buy flowers not already made into a bouquet.

Also, how do florists get started? Is there florist school? See what I mean, major dumb moment going on!!

Heck, its Friday! I've got an excuse!

Flowers not made in a bouquet?
go to your grocery store floral department. You can get bunches of flowers, in a bouquet or not. Ours has stems of tulips, in groups of 7, I think. Carnations, daffodils, or alstromeria...which last a long time.
Reply:Most major stores such as grocery stores and WalMarts, KMarts etc. have single flowers that you can buy. Most floral shops also have singles that you can buy. As far as training, check with your large floral shops. In Illinois, it was Amling's. Most of these large distributors offer classes and training. Also check your local community college or Adult Education. Most of these colleges will offer classes in what you are talking about. It is not a dumb question, you are looking for an answer to something that interests you. That's what were here to do...answer you.
Reply:any local flower shop will sell you cut flowers loose. Just because they wrap them in paper to look nice doesn't mean you can't take it apart! buy the bouquet anyway and taKE IT APART

Can I use my british debit card to buy something from an american website?

I want to buy flowers for relatives who live in the States, but interflora is so expensive. I have found some local florists, but will my british debit card work?

Can I use my british debit card to buy something from an american website?
If your card has a visa or mastercard logo on then i don't see why you can't.
Reply:Possibly. If it has a Visa or MasterCard symbol on it. The maestro card may also work like a MasterCard on the web in the US.

The only problem is if you card does not have address verification it could be denied. Just try the card and see.
Reply:yes it will
Reply:try it,you have a 50/50 chance
Reply:Some US websites will accept Solo/Maestro but not many. When you reach the checkout, you see the Payment Method option with a list of cards that they accept. If Solo/Maestro or even Visa Delta is not in the list, you are unlucky
Reply:it will probably work as long as it is visa/mc

I was able to use my US debit in London without problems. The bank translated the exchange rate automatically.

im planning to send my 'special friend' flowers to work..what size and what kind of card should i buy together with the flowers? and what else can i include inside the box? %26lt;im giving her long stem roses in a white box%26gt;

thanks for any help =)

Im planning to send my 'special friend' flowers to work..what size and what kind of card should i buy?
you need to make it not only obvious that it came from you, but also a bit intriguing. leave a mysterious note that tells her that its from you indirectly. eg: if you always meet at the coffee maker and she uses 4 sugars, say something about that. or make mention of something quirky she does that she may be self concious about, but that you love. just make sure she'll guess theyre from you...the last thing you want is for her to come to you telling you that she thinks john-john sent her flowers! at the same time you want to show her that you notice and love the little things about her that the average joe wouldnt notice. she'll be whooped. oh...and make sure theyre red roses. the size and kind of card doesnt matter the least, if it comes from your heart!
Reply:I would do a dozen red roses.
Reply:not too many flowers. just like a couple of roses. and dont go all out on the card. just keep it casual, like ask to go to lunch or something

How do I send flowers in Colombia?

There is someone in Medellin Colombia I'd like to send flowers too. All my google searches are showing me Colombian flowers I can buy here in the US. Anyone know of local places in Medellin I can buy flowers using my credit card and have them delivered to someone there? I don't think the currency makes a difference with the card.

How do I send flowers in Colombia?
I would try daflores. They are on time, the flowers are nice. (Not cheap, but nice) The boxed ones are spectacular. The 100 bud boquet wasnt that impressive.

http://www.daflores.com/products/best_se...

I use them regularly to send flowers to fam. in Colombiia.
Reply:Send poppies. They know what to do with them there.
Reply:If the ditance is a problem then you can buy them locally in a flower shop near where you are delivering them (via website or phone) and this will be cheaper as you don't need to spend a lot of monry on sending them, even if you need to pay extra for the currency change.

roses are so clishe
Reply:Just buy her a mixed bouquet. Not only will it be beautiful, and not so formal as roses, but it is way cheaper than by her roses.
Reply:just buy a variety pack cant go wrong or just buy roses.

Should I buy flowers? What kind?

I'm gonna see this girl tomorrow, for like the 5th date now, haha. I haven't bought her anything yet...besides dinner, movie tickets, and stuff on our dates...should I pick her up some flowers? Tomorrow we're just going to see a movie - but I thought it might be nice. I also kinda feel like an *** because I said "Do you want me to pick you up tomorrow?" - which I think she decoded in her head as "it's your turn to drive" - and I didn't mean that at all! Haha. Oh well. Anyway, what do you think?

Should I buy flowers? What kind?
Yes, a girl loves flowers. Something friendly and fun. a mixed summer bouquet with daisies sunflower and some yellow and pink roses would look so pretty, summery and fun. Maybe a few pink carnations.....Ask a florist, but make sure a mixed bouquet because they are less expensive then all roses. She will love it!!
Reply:What's with all the generalizations?

WOMEN ARE NOT GENERIC!

Not all women like flowers they are a waste of money and they stink when they get old. Not to mention the fact that purchasing them means the guy is really ugly/pathetic and or has done something so reprehensible known or unknown to the woman that he feels flowers will make up for it.

You seem obsessed with "buying "this woman, "I haven't bought her anything yet...besides dinner, movie tickets, and stuff on our dates"

Why don't you ask her if she likes flowers instead of assuming she does. For all you know she could hate flowers or be allergic to pollen or whatever.

It seems like you care more about putting this woman on "lay-a-way" than about what she wants.
Reply:pick her up some roses that would mean the world to her
Reply:Yeah, she'd really like that. Girls love flowers at any time. I'd say lilies if you're not too serious. They're really pretty and smell nice. Roses always work too. But they're more romantic while lilies [to me at least] seem sweeter. Roses are cliche.

Where can i buy jasmin flower?

I want to buy some flowers, pertucularly JASMIN. I was searching if I could get it delivered to Connecticut, USA.

Where can i buy jasmin flower?
Jasmines are true tropical plants, so your best bet at this time of year for your location is either a florist or ordering online. Check out www.davesgarden.com; not only does the info there come from gardeners, but they also have a list of gardener-rated online nurseries, from which you can search for those that provide tropicals.

Can you buy cardinal flowers at lowes?

Cardinal flower (Lobelia cardinalis) a bog plant by nature should be found at any local garden center that has good a supply of pond or water plants.

Can you buy cardinal flowers at lowes?
Call your local garden centers and greenhouses and ask for lobelias. I'm in NW OH, and every one I went to had them. Lowes is a hardware store, not a garden center.
Reply:I have seen them there, but not a regular thing.
Reply:I've never seen them there. A good source for perennials is Bluestone Perennials. They're on the web.

How do i keep flowers fresh?

I had to buy flowers today cause all the shops will be closed tomorrow... how do i keep them fresh so that they still look fresh and beautiful tomorrow??? Thanks : )

How do i keep flowers fresh?
Cut the ends of them off and put them in cold water. If you have room in your fridge, stick them in there to keep them cool.
Reply:I found out that putting a two handfuls of pennies (yes - pennies!) in the bottom of your vase of fresh flowers keeps the water from getting bad so quickly. It also keeps the stems from becoming soggy. Don't know why - but it works!
Reply:yes aspirin really helps. I have done it many many times.
Reply:Cut off the stems at an angle, place stems in lots of cold water because they will drink a lot, put in frig, you can put aspirin, crushed, in with the water if desired.

Hope that can help you/.
Reply:Try pro Flowers.com .Real flowers are very pretty as an addition on a wedding cake.We put real ones around my daughters cake even though most one on her cake were gum paste.Fresh ones went around the silver punch bowl as well.
Reply:I would recommend going through your florist, who is providing flowers for your wedding. You might be able to get a good deal on them since everything else is coming from the same place. You can also ask them about pesticides and poisonous plant varieties.
Reply:www.proflowers.com has flowers available for weddings. I was looking there for a bit for my wedding. I've ordered flowers from proflowers as gifts and received them too - the flowers have always been a really nice quality. When I emailed to inquire about the flowers for a wedding, I actually got a phone call from a rep and she said she would be my personal rep through the whole process if I chose to go with them. If I remember correctly, the prices were good too.

But if you didn't want to get a bunch of boquets, you can order like one bunch (not from the wedding section) and have them delivered the day before if you want.....The delivery dates and times have, in my experience, been right on time.

Money can buy flowers, .......but can not take back the hateful words, why?

money is a human creation....one of importance in the artificial world created by humans..... in that world much of the natural world has become a mere showpiece that one buys....

flowers is one of those things that we purchase as a showpiece (most of the time)

BUT these still remains an aspect of the natural world that money can't buy- emotions, feelings, time...

hateful words once said belong to the past to time... and the hurt feelings they created belong to emotions and feelings....

BOTH of which money can't buy

Money can buy flowers, .......but can not take back the hateful words, why?
Because you can't buy love or use flowers to makeup for wrongdoing. Flowers can comfort a little but not the deeper hurt inflicted (which can be words or actions). I know this from personal experience.
Reply:It cannot because you cant go back in life. Life just goes forward. So whatever comes to hit you, keep going forward until you fall.
Reply:words are powerful. They have a "no refund, no return" policy.
Reply:"Money dont make you suffer money dont make you dont suffer" B.Marley
Reply:because money is something created by human....... feeling are born nature to humans. money can't buy nature or control nature. money is not worth for everything.
Reply:the damage is already done. hurtful words will always stay in the back of your head no matter how many flowers, candy, jewelery or whatever you buy.
Reply:Monkeys can fly, ......but can not take back the hateful words, why?

Monkeys can fly has nothing to do with taking back hateful words just like money can buy flowers has nothing to do with taking back hateful words. The question is so simple it really need not be asked I think at least not 15 times... Cause and Effect.
Reply:Because the hateful words have already been said.
Reply:You can buy billions of flowers with money but if the hateful words are said it remains in someone's heart forever, they cannot forgive you because you cannot buy forgiveness, once again I mention, money can buy objects but never feelings. You can buy so many objects but no matter how many objects you buy you will never be able to buy the forgiveness of something you have done that is hateful. Should you want to be forgiven it is using words, a heart, and a real desire to be forgiven, money cannot buy such things, money itself is just an object, an plain old object only we as humans make it sound so very important. An plain old object that is so light and small can never buy the powerfull feelings in this world and it never will.
Reply:You can give someone 1000 flowers but it cannot take back the pain you give to someone.
Reply:that's why forgiveness exists

Is it silly to send or buy flowers for my boyfriend?

He is always doing nice, thoughtful, and romantic things for me. I want to do the same!

Is it silly to send or buy flowers for my boyfriend?
My BF felt a little funny when I sent him flowers, but you can express a similar sentiment with something more plant like. Send him a little cactus or a bonsai tree.
Reply:SOUNDS GOOD TO ME
Reply:I think that is a lovely thought. You should buy flowers for him.

Is it ok to buy flowers for a guy?

My boyfriend buys me gifts every now and again and so I want to do something for him. Do guys like flowers?

Is it ok to buy flowers for a guy?
Yes.

If they're gay (the guys, not the flowers).

Seriously, most guys would rather have 12 longnecks than 12 long stems, anyday. Of course, if he drinks 12 longsnecks on any single day, he's an alcoholic, and you should probably dump him.
Reply:it doesn't really matter whether or not he actually LIKES flowers, it's the appreciation and thought.
Reply:Some guys do, my boyfriend does, not always but I think he likes it that every once in a while I send him flowers. But you would have to know if he is one of those guys that would be mad about it.................
Reply:Maybe but it depends how he perceives receiving flowers. He may think that it is sissy or something like that. I suggest you ask him if he minds otherwise forget it totally.
Reply:Personally, I buy my husband plants, because they last longer and aren't so feminine. He has two at his office and three in our home- and he loves them because they are from me!
Reply:no dont get flowers start off with something little like headphones for his mp3 but start off with something small
Reply:Guys like flowers. They will NEVER admit to it, but they do.
Reply:I used to send my ex blue gerber daisies to his work on each of our one month aniversaries for our first year! It was a super special gesture between the two of us! Plus all the girls that he worked with in the ER would gather aroudn to read the special card I sent with and smell the flowers.. He'd always blush... and have a huge smile on his face all day (so his coworkers said..!) Plus he always loved me all up when he got home from work! I say go for it.. its not like he'll get pissed! :D
Reply:If he really loves you then he wont really care what gift you buy him...he would love it simply because it's from you :) If he's a nice guy then he will appreciate the flowers.
Reply:I doubt that flowers are on his "wish list", but still, I think any loving gesture should be appreciated.

I wouldn't make it a regular thing, unless he REALLY likes it (in which case, he might be gay), but I do think it's a sweet thoughtful gesture, and he'll always remember you as the woman who gave him flowers.

Go for it!
Reply:Some guys do but most of them don't. When buying a gift for a guy, food is always the best option. Find out what his favorite food is or sweet. If he likes a certain fruit, get something flavored like that fruit. Also, see what kind of music, movies and books he likes.
Reply:Some guys do. I myself like cactus plants. Less amount of upkeep and they last a long time too.
Reply:Absolutely!!!!! I actually gave my boyfriend flowers last month..It was just because...It will also bring attention to his co-workers at the job..That's when he gets noticed and is also notifying the othe women that he is taken and he is worth every penny

I would like flowers that would come up every year. Perhaps something that would at track butterflies.

I have 6 inch deep dirt trough that i would like to plant flowers. The sight is shady.what type should i buy.?
6 inches of soil isn't much to work with ...you will have to water quite a bit. Perennials would have hard time surviving.

I would go with annuals in that size of pot.

Here are some options....besides impatiens...

Begonia's

Browalia

Lobelia

Torenia

Fuschia
Reply:Liriope is bulletproof, a lot of woods sited wildflowers like shade, phlox, jack-in-the-pulpit, celandine poppy. Hostas do well in shade. As for annual fillers, coleus and impatiens
Reply:Doesn't sound like much dirt to work with. Many plants will require more. You could try Mona lavender, cosmos, and buttercups. You might have better luck with impatiens. They are annuals but if you leave them alone every year instead up pulling them up they are proliferate re-seeders. And you will get a lot more color.

Adult butterflies are attracted to sweet, sharp and fragrant smells and the colors orange, yellow, pink, purple and red. All varieties love wild flowers %26amp; need both nectar plants and larval food plants to keep their life cycle going. http://www.ccenassau.org/hort/html/butte...

A variety of blossoms offer nectar to adult butterflies, while leafy food sources, such as parsley, nourish the larvae. Rocks are convenient perches for butterflies to sun themselves, and a birdbath provides water.

You can incorporate a thick layer of compost %26amp; leaf mulch into your existing soil... to raise your area up to provide more "leg-room" for plants with deeper root systems than the ground cover type plants. This will also nourish your plants %26amp; help keep them from drying out too quickly.

Good luck! Hope this helps.
Reply:Dang... I can't believe you got answers without asking which ZONE you live in...!! or SOIL TYPE you have....????... dense shade or partial shade??????....

UUGGHHH...!!!!!

ok....butterflies are most attrated to 1) red 2)deep pink 3) orange 4) dark purple ..... in that order.

Guessing here, Hostas are no#1 for shade......zones 3-9...some are quite drought tolerant but most like moist rich organic soil...they come in a variety of sizes from 3"x3" to 36"x36"... with leaves varying in color from green/blue green and varigated green/white and green/yellow....not a butterfly magnet...but will flower in late summer (white or lavender).

asiatic lilys do well in DAPPLED shade and come in a variety of colors.............but what what is your soil type............zone...???

Astilbes like shade and flower in spring to early summer....many colors....24" to 48"....moist rich organic soil....zone 4 - 9

Vinca, a ground cover....deep lavender flowers, early summer...tolerates poor soil....zone 4 - 9

really need more info....................
Reply:it would be hard to pick flowers too put in a shady area your best bet would be to go too the nursery and ask the manager or whom ever runs it what would be the best anuals they come up every year that would do well in a shady area they can help you out the most.

Do you like getting flowers and what's your favorite flowers?

My favorite flowers is carnations even though I like the smell of honeysuckle. Unless I buy flowers myself, I don't get flowers very often and I enjoy getting them.

Do you like getting flowers and what's your favorite flowers?
I love getting flowers! I particularly like mixed bouquets or something dramatic. Roses are nice, though a bit cliched. If I get roses I want a type with a very strong scent. Buy yourself flowers! You deserve them!
Reply:Yes, but i prefer that my fiance gets me flowers in a pot so i can plant them and keep them a little longer then cut flowers. I love violets and tulips!
Reply:i like getting any kind of flowers. My favorite is Lotus, of course no one can't gift that.
Reply:No, I don't like getting flowers because they die too quickly. I think it is a waste of money and would rather my children buy me dinner or a houseplant.
Reply:Actually, I like GIVING flowers to my bride of 42 years.

You may want to suggest to your beau that he buy you Alstroemeria. These are also known as Peruvian Lilies.

They are on long stems and look like small multi-colored lilies. They come in many beautiful colors, but avoid the blue ones, they are artificially colored and don't last too well. The blooms last for WEEKS, yes - WEEKS. The secret is to buy the bouquets with as many buds as you can, rather than many open flowers. They will all open over time and will last a long time. We love 'em AND they are not expensive - how neat!
Reply:I love getting flowers. I am just as happy receiving a single flower, than I am to get a huge bouquet. My fave flower? Wild flowers, even though I know they can't be bought. My kids used to bring me them, when they were little. There's nothing like the smell of Blue-bells or a freshly picked Wild-rose. Ohhh ... the best smell in the whole world .... purple lilacs!!
Reply:I love flowers except for mums because they are related to ragweed and make me sneeze. I love lilacs and daffodils for the smell. But I really prefer getting daylilies to plant in my garden.
Reply:I enjoy getting flowers, but prefer a plant with flowers. Cut flowers die too quickly. My favorite flower is yellow roses, but I cannot keep them alive.

Does anyone know the difference in price of flowers in LA flower district?

What is the price difference between someone who is buying flowers with a permit which i think would be wholesale and going as general public to buy? Say a dozen roses

Does anyone know the difference in price of flowers in LA flower district?
The biggest price difference is based on volume. People buying with a wholesale license will not buy a dozen roses. They will buy 20 dozens. The flower mart sells to flower shops. If you buy direct from the flower mart you will always pay less than the local florist and get fresher flowers
Reply:. There are a LOT of variables.

The 'flower' site below might give you an idea. About $1.75 each wholesale. Then maybe sell them for $2.

Or this site @ http://www.onlinewholesaleflowers.com/Va... ; ... $1.40 each.

My cousin (17) got the lead. What can I buy her for opening night besides flowers?

My little cousin got the lead in Suessical at her high school, which is very big on theater. What is something creative that I can get her as an opening night gift? I want to try and avoid the standard flowers and I cannot find anything Suessical related to get.

Thanks

My cousin (17) got the lead. What can I buy her for opening night besides flowers?
What about a Dr. Seuss book? A personal favorite is "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" My parents got me that for my high school graduation. That'd be really sweet, especially if she's planning on studying theatre in college or anything.

Reply:Go to www.thetreebuilder.com and get her a cat in the hat hat. You could fill the hat with any thing from seuss books to a bag or box of candy.
Reply:Try a "Say and Send Friends" bear. You can record a few seconds of a message for her to here when she squeezes it. It may sound a little cheesy for a seventeen year old, but they're really cute and could make her laugh.

And if you want to add a Seussical touch, just tie a red and white striped ribbon around it's neck :]

How do I keep my flowers from dying?

everytime I buy flowers for my bedroom they seem to die the ext day. I try and change the water daily but they still turn brown and ugly the next day....

How do I keep my flowers from dying?
You should buy fake flowers... they require so much less maintenance !
Reply:You should put in baking soda!

It really works

A tablespoon works great!
Reply:There is a small packet of plant food usually sold where you

can by live flowers, its designed to help the plant last longer.

I would ask for that product if you can't get it where you buy

you flowers a florist should have some on hand, or even places like walmart or or home depot's that have a garden

center. It works I have tried it.
Reply:as soon as you get them home trim the ends about 1/4 to 1/2 inch - while holding them under water (fill the sink with water, trim the flowers) and plunge them into the vase of cool - not cold - to which you have added a portion of the little packet of 'plant saver' that comes with the bouquet. change the water and snip the stems daily. i have had bouquets last 3 and 4 wks using this method.

hope this helps.
Reply:fresh flowers often rely on water and naturally occuring sugars to keep them alive on the plant, most florists have a sachet for sale or free with a bunch of flowers that when added to the water will keep the flowers alive for longer.

if you are like me and dont want to pay for these you can try a teaspoon of Bicabonate soda, and half a teaspoon of sugar some people also reccomend salt, but as salt dehydrates i wouldnt.

Most countries add chlorine and flouride into their water, plants dont really like either of these use the bicarb to lower the chlorine, and the sugar preferably raw to act as a sort of substitute for the natural minerals the plant would supply.

hope it helps

mick
Reply:when you get them put them in ice water... they wont NOT die...but they'll last alot longer!!
Reply:Are the flowers getting enough sunlight? Maybe you need miracle grow or something you can make on your own like seaweed with egg shells. In biology, my teacher did an experiment with miracle grow and seaweed and eggshells i think. And the seaweed with eggshells is better than the miracle grow.

Best way to extend life of cut flowers?

I buy flowers for inside my home alot, but they never last long. What is the best trick to make them last much longer?

Best way to extend life of cut flowers?
The first step is to use a clean vase. Wash the vase with hot soapy water, then rinse thoroughly to eliminate bacteria and fungi.

The next important step is to prepare the flowers properly. If you purchase cut flowers, recut the stems before you put the flowers in a vase. Do this by removing 1 to 2 inches of the stem at an angle under water. You can recut the stems in a basin of water, or even under running tap water.

Another important step is to provide good water. In most cases, cut flowers in arrangements collapse early because they are not able to absorb enough water to keep them looking crisp and fresh. Recutting the stems under water is important because it prevents air from getting into the stems. It’s also a good idea to use hot (100 Degrees F) water in the vase. Never use softened water in a vase, as it contains sodium, which is bad for cut flowers. Hard water (which leaves white deposits in teakettles and on faucets) is likewise bad for cut flowers. In such cases you may want to use demineralized water, which you can purchase at a supermarket.
Reply:You can help your cut flowers for exactly 1 cent. Simply place a penny in the vase before you put the flowers in.

How often do you buy flowers for someone?

not very often, but I just sent flowers to my Hubby at work for our anniversary!

How often do you buy flowers for someone?
Flowers should be used only for weddings, offerings to deities. They are to be left on the plants, to admire their beauty.
Reply:Very often. I love flowers and know how it felt to receive them but I rarely had the surprise returned. Whats with these people nowadays? If I stop sending them next year, they will keep saying I am petty or maybe they couldn't careless. Both ways put me on the losing end so I keep giving. I just love them especially when the florist near my house keep importing those flowers from all over the world. Some of them I dont even know existed. I just cant pass by the shop without going in and always had to find excuse to buy some from the wonderful lady. Or because she is a very good sales person. I just bought pin cushions from Australia and protea from Africa and even Holland tulips on Saturday. Last week they had peonies from China. Its just so nice to see those smiles from God. Well, frankly, they are mostly sent to nephews and nieces and some very close friends but what do I get for Christmas , Valentines Day and my birthday? If I am lucky, a lunch or dinner treat, if not a birthday card and mostly email or sms on mobile phone. So, does it mean they dont know the ettiquette? They called and thank me , thats all. Come on, these people have more income than me!!!!! I told my niece, dont forget to buy me a bouquet of white lilies tied with black ribbon when I die. Hope she remembers.

I want to plant a little garden. What flowers/vegetable seeds should I buy that I can plant right away?

(Meaning I can plant them in June and have vegetables or flowers by summer's end.)

I want to plant a little garden. What flowers/vegetable seeds should I buy that I can plant right away?
It's a little bit late for planting seeds (by the time they're mature enough to produce veggies, the season will be winding down). I would recommend finding starts at your local nursery (young plants, a little older than seedlings). Zucchini and other summer squash are easy to grow and will reward you with lots of food, and there's nothing quite like a tomato from your garden! Basil is also super easy to grow, as are most herbs. Wander the aisles at your local nursery and see what looks good! Good luck!

What seeds can I buy to grow very quick attractive flowers for containers on my patio this summer ?...?

Or am I too late ? I just want to grow something bright and colourful either from seed or using bedding plants, I live in North East England with a South facing patio.

What seeds can I buy to grow very quick attractive flowers for containers on my patio this summer ?...?
it's probably a little late for seeding. Find some bedding plants you like and plant away for summer color.. (bear in mind that we are already halfway through summer.. it's mid July) .. It takes seedlings a while to be able to be ready to blossom and to have adequate size to be seen.

Petunia and vinca are both good for quick color for sunny areas.. try a wave or tidal wave petunia.. TONS of blooms!
Reply:pertunia
Reply:Marigolds, petunias, violas, impatiens; all should do well.
Reply:While I don't exactly know the climate in your area, I am guessing North East England is far from tropical-like and thus planting seeds would not be a good idea. Anything you plant at this point will just be getting to the point of flowering by the time fall arrives. I think you will be a lot happier picking out some colorful, already-flowering bedding plants.
Reply:You need bedding plants now, buy them from a market or a car boot for a bargain, you will be able to pick out a good mix. Try a pot with herbs in as well, chives look really nice if you dont pick them. Cover the top of the soil with small stones or glass beads (all colours).

I have been married for 15 yrs, and never buy flowers for my wife.?

Now we have married issued, but there are no 3rd party, fortunately. and I want to work it out. Next month will be her birthday, I want to buy flowers for her, and I don't even know what kind of flowers she like, and I don't want to ask her since she will notice. I just want make a surprise. what kind of flowers do you like girls/women out there ? could you give me suggestion ? and guys where do you buy flowers online that you think is good service for you wife/girlfriend ? what should I say on card ?

I have been married for 15 yrs, and never buy flowers for my wife.?
...go to a florist and ask their recommendations, ask for a card. and let your heart do the talking and deliver the flowers,

personally. with a hug and kiss.
Reply:1800flowers.com has a lot of different things to choose from. Or you can go to your local florist and have a professional help you with yolur choice. I love Lilies or Roses with babies breath.
Reply:You can go to flowers. com. and you can simply say I Love You and Thank You for Being There. A dozen red roses in a beautiful vase, she will be so excited and she will feel so loved. If she works she will be talking about it to everyone. Next time don't wait so long to show how you feel. :)
Reply:I think you should get her a bouquet of helium balloons (8-10), a fancy cake with butter cream icing, and a nice flower arrangement from a florist.

You can't go wrong with a nice surprise like that.

Then it would appear that you put a serious thought into this, than just a bunch of flowers from the grocery store.
Reply:I would go with 1800 flowers. their flowers are the best.

They have section where you can choose what occasion and they will show you some flower suggestions.

I would go with this one.

http://ww12.1800flowers.com/product.do?b...

my husband got these for me and they were beautiful
Reply:I wouldn't go for the typical Rose.....Go for something that shows you took the time to find the perfect flower for her. Something that fits her personality.

Personally I think roses are overrated kind of like gift cards just a quick and easy way to just show that you thought about him/her....I like it when I get something from someone that has there personal touch. I love to see how people see me.

Start with a flower that isn't always picked like an Orchid, or a bundle of flowers with a variety of flowers....

Make sure you take the time to fill out the card with something special from you....Perhaps something about why you fell in love, something only she does for you that just wows you, or a special event that you can't seem to quit smiling about.....Just make it personal not the cookie cutter fill-ins they offer at the store.

Good luck

I happen to like the "Stargazer Lily".
Reply:You can go to a florist and thay will help you. You can also take your wife to dinner and have a wonder full night. Please don't wait so long again.
Reply:Roses are good, buy them at the grocery store so you can see her expression when you give them to her-- card should say - I am so lucky to have been married to you for 15 years. Happy Birthday to my lovely wife.
Reply:The classic: roses. Buy a dozen long stem red roses. Don't buy those cheap ones for $9.99 a dozen. The second you open them, the petals fall off. They are 2nd handed or even lower. I wouldn't do online orders or grocery stores either. It's best if you go to a local florist. They usually have fresh flowers available and you can pick and choose which ones you want and tell them exactly what you want. When you order via online or on the phone, you don't get to see what you ordred and can be disappointing. In your case, I would take the extra step of hand selecting it and ask for some in person help.
Reply:stop being a cheap and get the woman some dagum flowers, wal-mart has them!!
Reply:roses or very pretty send her a dozen, but if her birthday around v-day send them early or for a week cause every woman will get flowers on v-day make ehr feel special. tell her you know you should do mor efor her and you relaize you have taken her for granted
Reply:Give her a dozen Black Roses and a Black eye to boot,Move on!Seriously If you don't know a flower shop that can deliver a dozen Red Roses you are finished,15 years of being an insincere husband No flowers ever is pretty hard to make up .for lost time.Deliver them yourself. To hell with the card say you are sorry when you hand them to her and kiss her.
Reply:You can't go wrong with roses. The are the flower of romance. Tell her you love her on the card. If you need to apologize for some thing do that also. Whatever your marriage issues are don't ignore them. Sit down and have a nice long talk disconnect all distractions.
Reply:What a shame. This is why you have marital issues---you've probably shown very little signs of affection or love for the past 15 years. I have a girlfriend, whose husband did the same thing for 20 years. He tried to turn over a new leaf about 5 years ago. It's too late and is not working. No matter what he does, the 20 bad years outweigh the small acts that he does now. Hopefully, yours isn't too late.

My girlfriend brought me flowers and candy. Do women buy flowers for guys? Mine did.?

WoW!!! I think she likes me. She just stopped by out of the blue. The kids and I were outside throwing the baseball. She said she passed by earlier and saw us playing ball outside on her way to the grocery. I did not see her pass the first time she passed. She only lives around the corner. On her way back the kids and I were still throwing the baseball she stopped and got out the car pulled out the flowers and candy and gave me a big hug and a kiss right in front of the kids. The kids know I really like her and they met her this past weekend. Any ways, I try not to show to much affection in front of my kids but this kind of felt right.

The weird part was when my kids started with " Daddy and ____ sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G " You know the rest of the saying. I was embarrassed. My kids were smiling and laughing. After their song, she give me a bigger kiss and stuck her tongue out to the kids. She was messing with them. Do women buy flowers for guys? It was my first time.

Where can I buy bulk faux flowers?

I am working on my wedding centerpieces and am researching all my options and costs. Does anyone know of a website to buy bulk flowers (roses %26amp; yellow asiatic lillies) real or fake. If they are fake I want them to look semi-real. No hard plastic flowers or cheesy looking ones. I have found a lot of bulk flower distributors online but you never know which ones are good and which ones are rip-offs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would go to a craft store like Michael's or Hobby Lobby. They both have really nice silk. Maybe they could order a case of what you are wanting.
Reply:I got 400 silk gerbera daisies for around 50 cents each, and they were AWESOME quality you couldn't tell they were fake until you were practically on top of them. I made topiary balls with them for my wedding centerpeices. I got them from www.save-on-crafts.com and I was totally pleased with everything. I highly reccommend them!
Reply:I did all my own faux flowers at my wedding - my bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, ceremony flowers, corsages, etc. I bought everything at Michael's. I checked out AC Moore but I didn't think they had as good quality of flowers. For all mine I used roses, lillies of the valley, and hydrangeas. They looked extremely real - most people couldn't believe it when I told them they were faux! There are some websites that sell faux bouquets and arrangements that are already done but I found them to be expensive and it defeats the purpose of saving money by using faux flowers.
Reply:try michaels or wal mart. also try any arts and crafts stores
Reply:The best site ever, I used it for my own wedding, is http://www.save-on-crafts.com/ I got gerber daisies, roses, and calla lilies. I highly recommend it.

Reply:Claire's, Accessorise basically any clothes/ accessories shop.
Reply:You can get the 'fake looking flowers' already attached to hair clips at places that sell costume jewelry and hair adornments, or you can buy 'fake flowers' and use hot glue or sew them onto the clips yourself. Any place that sells fake flowers will sell them to you ... and some, like Target or K-Mart or Walmart will also sell the 'plain clips' for your 'hair flowers' ...
Reply:well you can look on ebay.. they have a wide selection or try some wedding suppliers..

maybe you could make your own..

BUT i met this girl, and i approach her different, softer more respectful, just naturally without even thinking about it, just a different vibe i get from her, usually im bout sex, wit her im more about romance......OK so i gave a her a compliment all gentlemen like, she seemed to enjoy it..than later i gotta warm smile, emotianal smile, and it got me all emotional........well i didn't get to see her for a week, than when i did see her, she seemed like it never happened..... our situation is complicated too, with low voice, its hard to talk to her, cuz we only see eachother in crowded areas...... so wat ya'll think? i was gonna buy her flowers.. ur opinion?

Shud i buy flowers? i live at homeless sheltor she works there.......?

Reply:Sorry to sound rude, but if you live in a homeless shelter, maybe you should not waste your money on something like that. Maybe get yourself a job and a place and then volunteer there. Then buy the flowers.

Is there ANYWHERE I can buy (cheap) just a few flowers so I can arrange them myself?

I usually arrange about 15 medium vases and 5 large vases per week. I want the wholesale price, because I'll be a regular customer, without the huge quantity. I'm a one-lady charity service (I give the flowers away to sick %26amp; forgotten). I live in Dallas, though I'd love to order over the internet...I order my supplies that way...

Is there ANYWHERE I can buy (cheap) just a few flowers so I can arrange them myself?
Wow. what a terrific thing you are doing. I would try Cos co or Sam's Club and Greenhouses. If you do bulk buying, I don't see why they wouldn't work on the price for you. Tell them you are doing it for charity too! Good luck!
Reply:Over the internet...I'm not sure. Here in CT you can go in most grocery stores to get flowers that you can arrange yourself.
Reply:there are lots of places on the internet -- i have gotten orchid sprays and anthuriums in bulk for pretty cheap. just google. they ship directly from the grower -- so its cheap for you.
Reply:Go to the grocery store at night. They usually discount the flowers in the evenings...also ask them when they get rid of the flowers (there might be one night a week). You might be able to pick them up free! And they will still be in decent shape.

I know it's not over the internet, but hey! if you want cheap stuff...

EDIT: Ok, you confuse me. Your question says "just a few flowers" and "without the huge quantity". Anyway, it's nice that you are giving the flowers as charitable donations. Good job.
Reply:the cheapest i know is food basics/ no frills etc.

well u can talk to the manager of the store. because these people take off the flowers after 2 to 3 days though the flowers look fresh.

u can talk to the manager so that he will sell u for cheaper price instead of throwing them in garbage.

he might understand ur social cause
Reply:Go to a local florist and ask them their suppliers name! If the first one doesn't give you the name. ask others.

Where can I buy a bouquet of snapdragon flowers?
snaps are cool weather plants so they are available in winter spring more than late summer. You'll have to have a florist order them for you. Most of our florist flowers are shipped in from around the world....give the florist a couple day's notice at least.

Where can i buy wild columbine flowers?

just look for the little handguns attached to them.

...

they must be pretty rare if you have to buy them wild. try googling 'wild columbine flowers'.

Where can i buy wild columbine flowers?
Here in Minnesota this native plant's Latin name is Aquilegia Canadensis......it is a perennial here. You could go online and type in Native Plant Greenhouses (for you area). You should be able to find them that way. Any place could send them to you if it's to far for you to drive.
Reply:Try looking for" Aquilegia caerulea" right now you can probably find seeds on line.. later try your garden center.. they are native to the rocky mnts
Reply:Wait til spring, and you can get the plants or the seeds at your local Wal-Mart or Landscapers. They say they are perennial, but here in Ohio, they are annual.

Is it proper to buy flowers if I know I wont see the girl on March 8th?

March 8th is the woman's day... It's not celebrated much in America, but I am originally from Europe and its sort of like Valentine's day for women there. wont see this girl that day since she works on Saturday. So do you think I should bring flowers today, and say something like "This is for March 8th..."

How would you get your boyfriend to buy you flowers?

My boyfriend and I have been together for five months and he's never bought me flowers, I've asked him, hinted many times that I love flowers and he still hasn't bought me any... How would you get your boyfriend to buy you flowers?

How would you get your boyfriend to buy you flowers?
Some men are stupid. You have to tell them to buy you stuff. If you got one, just remember, you will never train him the way you want, you either have to deal with the way he is now, for life or move on. If you enjoy having to out and out tell him what to do, plan on doing it forever. If you don't, you need to start looking for your mr right, because he isn't it.
Reply:you should not need to hint --- he should just buy them --- best wishes
Reply:ha ha
Reply:make him feel bad. All I wanted was chocolates for valentines day. Weeks went by and no candy I would always bring it up hey you never got me chocolates. Then one day I had flowers and chocolates in my room. He makes me so happy, he is the best.

Can i buy flowers in walmart and then use them as bouquets?

I live in nyc and there's really no walmart around here. but last week i was in pennsylvania and went to a walmart over there. my brother bought his girlfriend a beautiful bouquet of flowers of different color flowers for $10 dollars. It gave me an idea of buying about 3 of those bouquets to make my (bridal) bouquet and then buy 5 for the bridesmaids. Would that work.

I mean these flowers were beautiful I would just have to cut the stem.

Can i buy flowers in walmart and then use them as bouquets?
If they look good and the price is right.....go for it! Look on their website, I'm sure you don't have to drive all the way to Penn. for a Walmart. They are like Starbucks, everywhere.

Just keep in mind that sometimes the selection at Walmart changes so you might not be able to find 8 bouquets that are the same. If you plan on doing it make sure to talk with the manager of the flower department so they can have them on standby.
Reply:Well, heres another idea.. now this might sound kinda cheese ball, but I've known of a lot of people to do this.... Artificial Flowers... seriously!! They wont wilt, they will always look great, you don't have to worry about allergies, or them staining anything (clothing, table cloths, etc.)... and when it comes time for you to throw your bouquet, thats when you could use that $10 flower bunch from walmart....

Good luck!
Reply:Wal-Mart can have beautiful flowers, yes. The key is to SPECIAL ORDER exactly what you want. Believe me, showing up before hand and hoping the flowers you want are there will never work. If they don't offer payment ahead of time, you should order extra flowers so that when you pick them up you can choose the best looking bunch. It saves money, as long as you have the time and patience, why not!? :)

Also, have you ever done this before? I would recommend buying a few bunches before hand(you can even get the ones that are dying and on sale for cheap practice). Will you be wrapping the stems in a ribbon? Sometimes these aren't as easy as they seem...
Reply:Yes -- absolutely. If it looks good, go for it!

But I will say that the smell of fresh flowers is very calming on your wedding day. I took 2 grocery store bouquets (the ones by the cash register) and hand-tied them just like the fancy florists do. Smelled amazing, looked great, cost $20 and lasted for 3 weeks on my kitchen table.
Reply:Yep. Any would really do as long as they are good flowers.
Reply:Do you have a Sam's Club or Costco? They have great flowers, too, and I think they will even do arrangements for you, so you don't have to do it yourself.

If you want to do it, make sure you or someone you know has an idea of how to arrange them or tie them, so they don't fall apart. You can take a class or buy a book at a craft store.
Reply:Hobby Lobby would be better - http://www.craftsetc.com/store/search.as...
Reply:yeah I am buying mine at costco. Just make sure they are refrigerated! and buy them no more than 2 days before the wedding!
Reply:I know a couple of girls got their flowers through Costco or Sam's Club. Here where I live, we have a floral shop that specializes in wholesale orders for DIY brides. They offer classes on making bouquets, bouts, %26amp; corsages.

My sister ordered all of the roses for her wedding online (2GRoses) %26amp; had them delivered the Thursday before her wedding. We just used them for centerpieces, but put them all together on Friday before the rehearsal.

DIY flowers are a great way to save money, especially if you just want roses and you like the hand tied look. There are some great videos out on the internet with good instructions of how to create bouquets and other wedding accessories.
Reply:Hi and congratulations!

Yes, that would work fine! I am always suggesting for bride's to go to Walmart (or Costco). I buy roses from Walmart all the time, and yes, they are only $10 for a dozen.

As a matter of fact, you can put in a special order for a certain color and quantity. It would certainly work for a nice bouquet. Cut off the thorns, cut down the stems, and wrap with a silk ribbon. Beautiful!

If you don't have a Walmart near you, check online. I don't know if you can special order online or not, but possibly.

Good luck and I hope they work out for you.
Reply:Hi,

You definetly could use the flowers from Wal-Mart if you wanted to design your own bouquets. There really isn't any rules against it. There are several different tutorials about how to design your own bouquets just "google" it for directions

Good Luck

Your Dream Invites %26amp; Designs
Reply:Nothing wrong with that! We are ordering ours from Sams Club...125 roses for $87! At the moment they are higher for Valentine's Day but after Valentine's Day they will go back down.

Congrats!
Reply:I was going to do this when we married in Las Vegas, but I would have had to rent a car and travel to pick up the flowers, and I didn´t want the hassle.

Instead, I brought the dozen fake ivory english roses I had in my home (I bought them at Pottery Barn 6 years ago) to Las Vegas, and the morning of my wedding a friend tied them for me to carry, and each of my bridesmaids carried a single rose. Needless to say, I saved A LOT of money doing this.
Reply:That would so be okay!!! What a great money saver. If you can cut and tie them with a cute ribbon from wal-mart, too, you're set!
Reply:Wal-Mart isn't the only place...there are several grocery stores that have flower departments. They even do arrangements for you! I did mine through a grocery store called Kroger...not sure if they have them in NY...and I paid about $150 for my bouquet, two bridesmaids, and the guys flowers too...much cheaper than a floral shop!!! That was in TN so I'm sure yours will still be more than mine, but I don't see anything wrong with getting flowers from somewhere like that! No one else is going to know...and you can even add your own ribbon!

Where could I buy silk flowers for my wedding?

I live in Esperance, West Australia. Any ideas of stockists in my area?

Where could I buy silk flowers for my wedding?
Craft stores, flea markets, art supply stores, on the web...

When doing your arrangements, be very careful. My sister decided to use silk flowers for the wedding bouquets because of a strict budget, and they ended up looking very tacky. If you are set on using silk flowers, make sure they are the best quality you can find. Otherwise everybody will be talking about the cheap bouquets (from my own experience!)
Reply:Do a search of Ebay for silk wedding flower sets. I ordered my silk flowers off of ebay. The florist who did my flowers was amazing...she worked with me for three weeks, via email, pictures and phone calls. I got ALL of my flowers for less than $200 US, including shipping. I'm sure the Ebay sellers could ship to you in Australia. I would just make sure to email them and tell them your location before deciding on one person to do your work.
Reply:MICHAEL'S OR AND KIND OF CRAFTS STORE
Reply:i think silk flowers are tacky for a wedding but hey that's my opnion.
Reply:i would just try some craft stores or maybe search online for somewhere you can buy them in bulk and have them shipped to you...
Reply:Ebay. They have several silk florists on there located in Australia. Their pictures look very good. Finally there is nothing wrong with using silk flowers. The key is finding someone who makes very arrangements. If you are located in the same place the floral arranger you select is request pictures and if possible see actual arrangements that she is and/or has put together for other brides.

Oh and congratulations
Reply:If only americans would realize when they say micheals we have no idea what they are talking about, your best bet is to ask your local florists where to look, if your wanting to go cheaper, Clints, bi lo or something along those lines have a small array assuming they are in your area, but if your wanting a more expensive look its smarter going to a florist.
Reply:I am really not trying to be mean but I think silk flowers are quite tacky. Do you really want to hold a piece of plastic down the aisle? You can still save money and get real ones. Just get a smaller bouquet with cheaper priced flowers. This will be much more elegant than silk ones.
