Where to buy fresh flowers in Bangalore?

Namaste

Do you know of a source of fresh flowers?

I am looking for roses and jasmines for a mala, and for other leaves and flowers, too.

I did find some things in Russell Market, but I am looking for other places to buy flowers, as well as places to buy flower seeds and plants.

Thank you

What is the best way to buy flowers for a wedding, which store is the best?

I am getting married in June and I am looking at the kind of flowers that I want. But I do not have a vast budgett. So cheap but quality.

What is the best way to buy flowers for a wedding, which store is the best?
Hi and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

I absolutely love real flowers, but some prefer the silk.

My suggestion would be to go to a florist. That is their business! ALL florists are willing to work with you AND your budget. They have lots of books with examples and also books showing actual weddings that they have done. You can also look through bridal magazines to get ideas. Take pictures and your ideas to the florist and see what they can do for you!

Check with your family, co-workers, friends, etc. to see what florist in the area they recommend. Good luck!
Reply:I used silk flowers. I got them from Jo ann Fabrics and a place called the flower factory but it is one of those places that someone has to belong to. I actually bought centerpieces for my bridal shower and cut the flowers out of that and made my bridesmaid bouquets and part of the boutonnieres. Reusing is a great idea, no one knew but me, no one knew they were silk and then your bridesmaid can take them home and use it somewhere, instead of throwing them away.
Reply:It's always best to go with a reputable local florist.
Reply:Trader Joe's. They have the best selection and they're cheap.
Reply:Hi there! also getting married in June. Im going tolook at arts and craft stores (if you're planning to not spend alot) and make them. It's not really hard if you have something in mind to go off of... a picture of a bouquet you like, type of flowers, colors. Then whip out your ribbon and hot glue gun and put some together and see what you come up with.
Reply:Do your research with some florists in your area. Let them know your budget and make their suggestions for what you want to do within your budgetary constraints. Look at their books of arrangements for other weddings. They always have them. If you like what you see not only in the books but the arrangements around the store, then they are the florist for you.
Reply:I dont know where you live, but here we have gourmet grocery stores that have big flower departments, like Central Market and Wholefoods. I had a friend who used them, and they supplied the flowers for her for her tables, and she just orderd cala lillies for the bridesmaids. She picked up the flowers herself and did the arranging on the tables. She only had her arrangement made at a florist. If you dont have stores like those, look for wholesale florists.
Reply:silk is cheaper and you have nice keepsakes.
Reply:If you intend to do all the arrangements yourself, you must consider where you are going to store the arrangements before the actual wedding. They need to go into a temperature controlled refrigerator!

Now, with that being said, you can purchase flowers in quantity from a site like this:http://www.growersbox.com/categories.php...

or this:

There is also proflowers.com wedding flowers. They come in packages, already made it bridal bouquets, boutiniers, etc, and you can pick the flowers you want and how many of each thing you want.

Reply:Broccoli, cauliflower and vegetables such as zucchini are all vegetables that you can eat. when broccoli and cauliflower are not picked they shoot flowers however zucchini grows a large yellow flower which is also eatable and used in many restaurants dishes. You can also eat fake flowers that are used on wedding cakes etc, they can all b e brought in the supermarket
Reply:first, you'd have to be sure that they were grown organically, but alot of flowers are edible: roses, nasturtiums, pansies, violets ..... Check a local florist. They might be able to tell you if the grower uses insecticides (or grow your own from seed). Search Sunset Magazine, and ask them all the flowers that are edible......
Reply:Hi you should first find out which flowers can be eaten--then you need to proceed to call speciality food stores--and %26amp; ask if they carry these products.
Reply:dandelion salad is great - petals and leaves. rose and violet petals are edible ans sometimes coated with sugar as a treat. be careful of pestiicides!

Reply:Alliums (leeks, chives, garlic, garlic chives) - Known as the "Flowering Onions." There are approximately four hundred species that includes the familiar onion, garlic, chives, ramps, and shallots. All members of this genus are edible. Their flavors range from mild onions and leeks right through to strong onion and garlic. All parts of the plants are edible. The flowers tend to have a stronger flavor than the leaves and the young developing seed-heads are even stronger. We eat the leaves and flowers mainly in salads. The leaves can also be cooked as a flavoring with other vegetables in soups, etc.

Chive Blossoms - Use whenever a light onion flavor and aroma is desired. Separate the florets and enjoy the mild, onion flavor in a variety of dishes.

Garlic Blossoms - The flowers can be white or pink, and the stems are flat instead of round. The flavor has a garlicky zing that brings out the flavor of your favorite food. Milder than the garlic bulb. Wonderful in salads.

Angelica - Depending on the variety, flower range from pale lavender-blue to deep rose. It has a flavor similar to licorice. Angelica is valued culinary from the seeds and stems, which are candied and used in liqueurs, to the young leaves and shoots, which can be added to a green salad. Because of its celery-like flavor, Angelica has a natural affinity with fish. The leaves have a stronger, clean taste and make a interesting addition to salads. In its native northern Europe, even the mature leaves are used, particularly by the Laplanders, as a natural fish preservative. Many people in the cold Northern regions such as Greenland, Siberia, and Finland consider Angelica a vegetable, and eat the stems raw, sometimes spread with butter. Young leaves can be made into a tea.

Anise Hyssop - Both flowers and leaves have a delicate anise or licorice flavor. Some people say the flavor reminds them of root beer. The blossoms make attractive plate garnishes and are often used in Chinese-style dishes

Apple Blossoms - Apple Blossoms have a delicate floral flavor and aroma. They are a nice accompaniment to fruit dishes and can easily be candied to use as a garnish.

NOTE: Eat in moderation as the flowers may contain cyanide precursors. The seeds of the apple fruit and their wild relations are poisonous

Arugula - Also called garden rocket, roquette, rocket-salad, Oruga, Rocketsalad, rocket-gentle; Raukenkohl (German); rouquelle (French); rucola (Italian). An Italian green usually appreciated raw in salads or on sandwiches. The flowers are small, white with dark centers and can be used in the salad for a light piquant flavor. The flowers taste very similar to the leaves and range in color from white to yellowish with dark purple veins. Arugula resembles radish leaves in both appearance and taste. Leaves are compound and have a spicy, peppery flavor that starts mild in young leaves and intensifies as they mature.

Aquatic Plants - Cattails have edible shoots and roots and even the pollen has been used in making biscuits. Arrowheads form large edible tubers at the root ends, called duck potatoes, which were consumed by Native Americans. Watercress (Rorippa nasturtium-aquaticum) has many historic medicinal uses and its spicy vegetation continues to be used in salads and garnishes. Water lily roots are a common source of food in many parts of the world especialy in Far East and have historic medicinal value.

Banana Blossoms - Also know as Banana Hearts. The flowers are a purple-maroon torpedo shaped growth appears out of the top of usually the largest of the trunks. Banana blossoms are used in Southeast Asian cuisines. The blossoms can be cooked or eaten raw. The tough covering is usually removed until you get to the almost white tender parts of the blossom. It should be sliced and let it sit in water until most of the sap are gone. If you eat it raw, make sure the blossom comes from a variety that isn't bitter. Most of the Southeast Asian varieties aren't bitter.

Basil - Depending on the type, the flowers are either bright white, pale pink, or a delicate lavender. The flavor of the flower is milder, but similar to the leaves of the same plant. Basil also has different varieties that have different milder flavors like lemon and mint. Sprinkle them over salad or pasta for a concentrated flavor and a spark of color that gives any dish a fresh, festive look.

Linguine with Tomatoes and Basil

Bee Balm - Also called Wild Bergamot, Wild Oswego Tea, Horsemint, Monarda. Wild bee balm tastes like oregano and mint. The taste of bee balm is reminiscent of citrus with soft mingling of lemon and orange. The red flowers have a minty flavor. Any place you use oregano, you can use bee balm blossoms. The leaves and flower petals can also be used in both fruit and regular salads. The leaves taste like the main ingredient in Earl Gray Tea and can be used as a substitute.

Borage - Has lovely cornflower blue star-shaped flowers. Blossoms have a cool, cucumber taste. Wonderful in punches, lemonade, gin and tonics, sorbets, chilled soups, cheese tortas, and dips.

Broccoli Florets - The top portion of broccoli is actually flower buds. Given time each will burst into a bright yellow flower, which is why they are called florets. Small yellow flowers have a mild spiciness (mild broccoli flavor), and are delicious in salads or in a stir-fry or steamer.

Burnet - The taste usually is likened to that of cucumbers, and burnet can be used interchangeably with borage.

Calendula - Also called Marigolds. A wonderful edible flower. Flavors range from spicy to bitter, tangy to peppery. Their sharp taste resembles saffron (also known as Poor Man’s Saffron). Has pretty petals in golden-orange hues. Sprinkle them on soups, pasta or rice dishes, herb butters, and salads. Petals add a yellow tint to soups, spreads, and scrambled eggs.

Carnations - Steep in wine, candy, or use as cake decoration. To use the surprisingly sweet petals in desserts, cut them away from the bitter white base of the flower. Dianthus are the miniature member of the carnation family with light clove-like or nutmeg scent. Petals add color to salads or aspics. Carnation petals are one of secret ingredients that has been used to make Chartreuse, a French liqueur, since the 17th century.

Chamomile - The flowers are small and daisy-like and have a sweet, apple-like flavor.

NOTE: Drink chamomile tea in moderation as it contains thuaone; ragweed sufferers may be allergic to chamomile.

Chervil - Chervil flowers are delicate white flowers with an anise flavor. Chervil's flavor is lost very easily, either by drying the herb, or too much heat. That is why it should be added at the end of cooking or sprinkled on in its fresh, raw state

Chicory - Earthy flavor, eat either the petals or the buds. Chicory has a pleasant, mild-bitter taste that has been compared to endive. The buds can be pickled.

Chrysanthemums - Tangy, slightly bitter, ranging in colors from red, white, yellow and orange. They range in taste from faint peppery to mild cauliflower. They sould be blanched first and then scatter the petals on a salad. The leaves can also be used to flavor vinegar. Always remove the bitter flower base and use petals only. Young leaves and stems of the Crown Daisy, also known as Chop Suey Greens or Shingiku in Japan, are widely used in oriental stir-fries and as salad seasoning.

Cilantro/Coriander - Like the leaves and seeds, the flowers have a strong herbal flavor. Use leaves and flowers raw as the flavor fades quickly when cooked. Sprinkle to taste on salads, bean dishes, and cold vegetable dishes.

Citrus blossoms (orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit, kumquat) - Use highly scented waxy petals sparingly. Distilled orange flower water is characteristic of Middle Eastern pastries and beverages. Citrus flavor and lemony.

Clover - Sweet, anise-like, licorice.

Cornflower - Also called Bachelor’s button. They have a slightly sweet to spicy, clove-like flavor. Bloom is a natural food dye. More commonly used as garnish.

Dame's Rocket (Hesperis matronalis) - Also called Sweet Rocket or Dame's Violet. This plant is often mistaken for Phlox. Phlox has five petals, Dame's Rocket has just four. The flowers, which resemble phlox, are deep lavender, and sometimes pink to white. The plant is part of the mustard family, which also includes radishes, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and, mustard. The plant and flowers are edible, but fairly bitter. The flowers are attractive added to green salads. The young leaves can also be added to your salad greens (for culinary purposes, the leaves should be picked before the plant flowers). The seed can also be sprouted and added to salads.NOTE: It is not the same variety as the herb commonly called Rocket, which is used as a green in salads.

Dandelions - Member of Daisy family. Flowers are sweetest when picked young, and just before eating. They have a sweet, honey-like flavor. Mature flowers are bitter. Dandelion buds are tastier than the flowers: best to pick these when they are very close to the ground, tightly bunched in the center, and about the size of a small gumball. Good raw or steamed. Also made into wine. Young leaves taste good steamed, or tossed in salads. When serving a rice dish use dandelion petals like confetti over the rice.

Day Lilies - Slightly sweet with a mild vegetable flavor, like sweet lettuce or melon. Their flavor is a combination of asparagus and zucchini. Chewable consistency. Some people think that different colored blossoms have different flavors. To use the surprisingly sweet petals in desserts, cut them away from the bitter white base of the flower. Also great to stuff like squash blossoms. Flowers look beautiful on composed salad platters or crowning a frosted cake.

Contact your local Sales Tax Office.

OR

http://www.window.state.tx.us/taxpermit/

You need to find a business name for the Tax Number. $10.00 for a business name usually. Use to be $25.00 for the Tax Permit....
Reply:The only reason you need a license is to collect the tax when the flowers are sold. Tell the wholesale house you want to pay cash.
Reply:Greetings,

I have baught wholesale flowers from www.nationalflowermart.com before and they were very friendly, and helpful. They ship nationawide for free! and seem to be very reputable as I was referred to them online, and can help you out with whatever flowers you need. They carry allot of diffrent kinds. We got roses, for our wedding which lasted 8 days! They were unbeleivable. Well I hope this helps good luck!
Reply:yes, you do need to get a business name, and a TAX id number. Even on some wholesale companies online, they require a tax ID...so go to the County for that!
Reply:Do you have any friends in the flower business? If so, ask them if you can get a deal through them.

I bought all my flowers for my wedding at the local craft store. I know if you are pressed for time then this won't help. Hobby Lobby has their silk flowers on sale for half off several times a year. Right now the single stems are on half off until May 5. Bushes are half also. I used a whole bunch of bushes/garlands for my flowers. I cut them and arranged them how I wanted them.

Also other places like JoAnn's and Michaels have sale like this. I know if you have a Garden Ridge then that is an excellent place too.

Would you buy flowers from a vending machine?

My uncle has a company selling flower shops these new touch screen flower vending machines. What do you think of this idea. Flower shops buy the machines and then put them in nearby hospitals, hotels, office buildings, shopping malls etc. You can see a video of the vending machine on youtube (search for flower vending) or at www.kioskvid.com if you want to see how it works.

Would you buy flowers from a vending machine?
WOW what a great concept. Would the flowers be removed and replaced at least weekly? It would be up to local florists to help make this business happen, they'd need to keep the flowers fresh. You'd have to have them at gas stations, too. Guys would love the easy buying of flowers and ladies would love it because it wouldn't be a cheesy fake rose in a plastic wrapper. GREAT invention!
Reply:What a unique idea. Yes, I would. Jennifer
Reply:I would have to say it's a bit strange to purchase a plant or flower from a vending machine. If the price was right and the vending machine was more convenient than going to a gift shop or flower shop then I think it'd be a great idea.

Not only that, but there may be late night or weekend visitors that may not have ample time to make it to a hospital gift shop before closing time.

In the long run I don't think it'll outdo flower shops or gift shops as they usually have more items (chocolates, stuffed animals, balloons, cards, etc.) than a vending machine.
Reply:It's a great idea and has already been used in Europe and Asia.

Where is the best place to buy flowers online and have them shipped? Preferallby somewhere not too expensive.?
There's another alternative you might want to consider. GardenWeb provides a place where gardeners can get together and swap plants (through the mail). My gardens are so much richer for trading with others. All you pay is postage for shipping out plants that others want in exchange for plants that you want.
Reply:Go someplace like ftd.com that has a network of local shops. You can pick out and arrangement and buy it from a flower shop in the town you want it to be delivered to. You can find arrangements that aren't that expensive, though it make take some digging.

I am going to Spain, and would like to know if I can buy flowers in Atlanta Int. airport to take with me?

I would like to take flowers to Spain, and was wondering if that would be possible, since it is an international flight, and with customs in Spain. Also, I would like to know if I can buy the flowers in the airport.

I am going to Spain, and would like to know if I can buy flowers in Atlanta Int. airport to take with me?
I fly through ATL several times a year, and I was there just last week. I have never seen a flower shop, but I never leave the terminals. If you have time, leave the passengers only area as if you are leaving the airport. In the arrivals greeting hall there might be a flower shop. Keep in mind that you will have to go back through security, so only do this if you aren't in a hurry! Before you buy anything, check with airport security or a customs officer, as I am not sure if you will actually be allowed to take the flowers to Spain. Another nice gift could be a teddy bear, and they do have those in the gift shop for sure!

While you are in Spain, try to go to Andalusia, it is beautiful this time of year!

Good luck and have fun!
Reply:why bother carrying that with you all the way there .. get em in spain .. they are better out there . i used to live there and i know it from a fact .
Reply:Thats a long flight to deal with flowers... you wont want to smash them but you wont want to hold them the whole way either... I would buy them there...

Where can I buy flowers near Boston College?

My boyfriend is singing tonight in a concert, and I want to buy him flowers! Anybody from BC know where the closest place to buy flowers would be?

Where can I buy flowers near Boston College?
If you are driving or taking the T down Beacon St, one easy place that comes to mind is Trader Joes right in Coolidge Corner. It's an easy stop. A few blocks past Coolidge Corner heading toward BC is a Star Market. I'm sure you could pick up one of their bouquets but usually TJ's are nicer.

The other florists I know are farther away, but I'm far more familiar with the BU end of things lol. I can't picture a florist right by BC, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. Other than what I mentioned the closest one that comes to mind is in Newton Center, but they are pretty pricey and not closer IMHO.

I wanted to at least give some options. If he is with you could you say you wanted to get something else, have him wait and run in? I'm sure you could hide it in one of their paper shopping bags (they have a lot out back BTW).

Have a great time!
Reply:I don't know any specific places as Boston is not my area.

Citysearch.com is very useful though, you can search for pretty much any business, company or service you are looking for in a particular location. There is even a rating system and reviews on the above given by people have used their services in the past.
Reply:There is a florist in Newton Center, but I am not positive of the name. There are also a few supermarkets around the area which all have florist shops inside.

What is the best search engine or directory to find/buy flowers for Valentine day?

I am planning to buy and send valentine flowers online. I have never purchsed any product online. I am wondering, if someone can help me find the best website where I can compare price and products from brand name florist and finally buy valentine flowers online to send it to my sweatheart this year.

What is the best search engine or directory to find/buy flowers for Valentine day?
Search for a florist that is located in the area in which you would like the flowers delivered. This saves you money because there are no extra "service" charges that companies charge to "pass on" your order to a florist in your area. If you go with one of the big online wire services you will still get your flowers from a local florist but you will have to pay a service charge for them taking the order.

Save yourself time, money and headaches and order from a local florist.

Best Wishes!

It depends on whether you are selling to nurseries or end users like flower merchants.
